Pastor Debbie has served at FUMC since November 2017 and continues to be excited about building relationships with people in the church, and in the community. She has lots of energy, an extremely positive attitude about life, an authentic faith and a zeal for connecting people to the love of Christ. Debbie has led 4 pilgrimages to the HOLY LANDS and brings that rich experience to her preaching and teaching.
Debbie has close relationships with her daughters, Lexie and Lyssa, her son-in-law, Matthew, and her grandchildren, who call her GiGi.
Debbie is not surprised when some people still question the ordination of women and welcomes questions about that (see her related sermons on YouTube HERE or HERE), or any other questions you might have. Organized in 1859 as the first religious group in Winnsboro, the congregation of the First United Methodist Church of Winnsboro was disbanded during the Civil War but reactivated in 1869 with 15 members. Early worship services were held in a community church until a Methodist sanctuary was built at the corner of Elm and Church streets in 1880. It was replaced by a brick structure in 1904, which in turn was replaced by a new building in 1962.
